About Us

I’m Nethmini Dasanayake, Creative Director of Dandelion.
Our story began in 2019, right after I finished school and was waiting for university entrance. At first, Dandelion was something small and lowkey but in 2020, when COVID-19 hit Sri Lanka, everything changed.

As the lockdown lifted and masks became part of daily life, we started producing 3-ply protective masks in different colors and prints. What began as a necessity quickly turned into a style statement, and our masks became incredibly popular among both men and women. That early success is what helped Dandelion grow into the brand it is today.

Soon after, we shifted back to what we always loved!clothing. Girls resonated with our styles, and we made it our mission to keep giving them more of what they liked.

In the meantime, I was also stepping into the world of fashion education. I was selected to the University of Moratuwa to study Fashion Design and Product Development, which became a turning point for me. Balancing studies and the brand wasn’t always easy, and by the end of 2022, things had to slow down. In 2024, I had to step away completely during my internship,a bittersweet pause, but one that gave me valuable experience.

Now, Dandelion is back stronger, more focused, and here to stay. This isn’t just about fashion for us. It’s about creating styles that connect, inspire confidence, and stay true to the women who wear them.

Dandelion has always been about growth, resilience, and beauty in simplicity just like the flower itself. And this is only the beginning.
